A few weeks ago my flatmate and I took a 4 hour hike along the skyline Walkway. It takes you along the ridges just outside of Wellington.
You can start from either end, and it takes you through farmlands, woods, and flat ridges. On clear days you can see straight from the Wellington harbor all the way out to the Pacific Ocean.
We ended up seeing a lot of animals on the way, some cows, a lot of sheep, and even this weird old fireplace out in the middle of the woods.
The main problem we had was the wind, in some parts it felt like we were going to get pushed straight off the mountain. But everything worked out fine, we had beautiful weather and even came home with a little sunburn.
It was a beautiful hike to do on a Tuesday afternoon in New Zealand.
